Recently, the 9th Asian Congress of Cryotherapy was grandly held in Guangzhou. Under the theme “Inheritance · Breakthrough · Coexistence”, the conference brought together leading experts in cryotherapy from across Asia to jointly explore the current landscape and future development of minimally invasive tumor cryoablation and combination therapies.

As one of the founding institutions of the Asian Society of Cryotherapy, Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital co-hosted this prestigious event. Professor Niu Lizhi, President of the International Society of Cryotherapy and a renowned master of cryoablation in Asia, was invited to attend and engage in in-depth discussions with peers on cutting-edge directions in cryotherapy, seeking new possibilities for minimally invasive cancer treatment.

During the conference, Professor Niu delivered a keynote presentation on cryoablation for ground-glass lung nodules. With the increasing detection rate of pulmonary nodules, clinical management strategies have attracted widespread attention. Drawing on extensive clinical experience and robust data, Professor Niu systematically demonstrated the significant advantages of cryoablation in the treatment of ground-glass lung nodules and proposed practical solutions to common procedural challenges. He emphasized that a future model combining “precise surveillance” with “minimally invasive intervention” may become a viable alternative to surgical resection, helping to avoid overtreatment.

High-level academic exchanges such as this serve as a vital bridge for translating advanced technologies into clinical practice, ultimately benefiting more patients. Over the past two decades, Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital has achieved remarkable accomplishments in the field of cryotherapy. To date, the medical team led by Professor Niu has successfully performed tens of thousands of complex minimally invasive cryoablation procedures. Owing to its outstanding contributions to oncologic cryotherapy, the hospital has become an important international platform for academic exchange and clinical learning, attracting patients from more than 120 countries and regions worldwide. Looking ahead, Fuda Hospital will continue to uphold the principle of “innovation grounded in excellence,” further expanding the boundaries of cryoablation applications and helping more patients move toward recovery.
