God's grace
My name is Budi, 55 years old and I live in Jakarta. I have been struggling with swallowing disorder since January 2023 and after several visits, I finally came to Dr. Janto Simkoputera, a specialist physician at Siloam Kedoya Hospital. He said a tumor was found in my liver and it was like a thunderbolt to me.
After finishing blood test, endoscopy, PET-Scans and several other examinations, it has been confirmed that the tumor had spread from the esophagus to the liver and several other organs. I was so sad back then that I didn't even dare to ask how big the tumor was and how many there were. My mental state has collapsed so I started overthinking.In April 2023, my physical condition further deteriorated. I felt severe pain in my stomach, abdomen and chest. I did everything I could, trying several types of pain killers, but they worked only temporarily.
Finally, after consulting with Professor Aru (Medistra Hospital) with the help of friends, he gave me the first treatment plan, which was to implant a stent in the esophagus before the cancer treatment in order to keep esophagus open to ensure that I get sufficient nutrition.
In the morning of April 24, 2023, my friend Umar called me and said he was on the way. He heard that there is a hospital in Guangzhou China that is very good at treating cancer patients, and this hospital has helped many advanced cancer patients, but the only problem was we didn’t know its name.
On April 26, 2023, God created his second miracle. Umar contacted his cousin Suprapto who lived and worked in Guangzhou. Suprapto immediately recommended Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital (Fuda) to us because he knew Professor Yenni Thamrin, a renowned social activist who could help me to go to Fuda for treatment.
After Professor Xu Kecheng (President of Fuda) went through all the medical documents, he suggested me come to Guangzhou as soon as possible given my serious condition. It was very difficult to apply for a Chinese visa at that time, but with the help of Professor Yenni Thamrin and the Chinese Embassy in Jakarta, I got the visa within a few hours.
On May 4, 2023, Fuda staff picked me up at the airport and sent me to Fuda by ambulance. After several days of observation, I finally received my first interventional therapy on May 8 and immunotherapy on the next day. The treatment went well without side effects.
Due to the peristalsis of the esophagus, the position of the stent implanted at Medistra Hospital has been displaced, and it caused nausea and vomit. The medical team of Fuda made great effort to mitigate my symptoms by implanting more suitable stents in my esophagus twice through endoscopy.
From May 17 to June 4, 2023, my physical condition had been improved as I gained my strength back gradually. I attribute all these improvements and progress to my positive attitude. I believe that God will heal me and won’t abandon me halfway.
On May 17, 2023, the doctor explained the ultrasound results to me, said that the tumor in the liver had shrunk. I was encouraged by the great news. During my hospitalization at Fuda, my condition has been improved thanks to the caring and patient-oriented services of the doctors and nurses here.
On June 28, 2023, doctors learned from the CT scan results that the tumor in the liver had shrunk significantly. In addition, several small tumors in the abdominal cavity disappeared, and the large ones also shrank, including those in lymph nodes. They called it a big step forward. So far, the treatments and medications I've received have been working really well. I can’t express my gratitude enough to all the doctors and nurses who helped me a lot at Fuda.
I am truly grateful deep down my heart for God who graciously hears and answers my prayers every day. God's greatness is immensurable. God will hear our prayers if we are sincere and grateful in our daily prayers.
