What Should We Do to Tumors That Easily Bleed?

None

Presently, an old man from Russia came to Fuda Cancer Hospital affiliated to Jinan University, suffering from kidney cancer and lung metastasis. Because CT showed that he had a tumor with very rich blood supply, any treatment could cause massive bleeding and endanger his life. A local hospital had nothing to do but let him go home.

Finally, he came to Fuda where experts at the cryotherapy center worked together to heal him.

According to Professor Niu Lizhi, vice president of Fuda and a major surgeon, the old man had kidney cancer. After an operation, a metastasis in his lung was found, and it grew up slowly and reached a size of four centimeters. In a Russian hospital, there was no good way, and he also took targeted drugs, but no obvious effect is noted. He was weak and could not bear another surgery, so his family started looking for a new way.

After several inquiries, he learned that cryoablation in China's Fuda Cancer Hospital has a better effect on lung metastasis, so he immediately decided to receive more suitable treatment at Fuda.

By CT examination, it was found that the blood circulation of the tumor was very abundant and the tumor bled easily. Thus, the doctors first gave him a biopsy to determine the nature of the tumor.

During the first puncture, he had hemoptysis. The team of experts at Fuda Cancer Hospital considered that he was prone to bleeding, and from a safe point of view, microwave ablation was more appropriate and safer for blood-rich tumors than cryoablation. Because microwaves can produce temperatures as high as 150 degrees and they can burn tumors and clot blood vessels without bleeding. In addition, even if there is bleeding during puncture, high temperature can stop bleeding in time, which is the advantage of microwave ablation.

Microwave ablation is characterized by rapid warming, which can burn the tumor to death in just a few minutes. However, it also has a disadvantage. Because of the rapid warming, imaging is not very clear and normal tissues are easily hurt. Therefore, Professor Niu and his team made detailed plans before the operation, keeping the needle two centimeters away from the important tissue. The patient and his families are worried, but they also trust Professor Niu and his team.

Professor Niu punctured the tumor center with a 2.0 microwave needle and ablated the tumor in 10 minutes. After ablation, the tumor could be seen burned to death.

The patient did not have any bleeding in the whole process, and there was no hemoptysis after the operation. This demonstrated that the use of microwave ablation was a right choice.

On the day after the operation, he could walk on the ground. When Professor Niu visited him in the ward, he happily took Professor Niu's hand and said, "Great!" Great! "

Professor Niu Lizhi said that at present, Fuda has the ablation methods including cryosurgery (freezing tumor), microwave ablation (burning tumor) and Nano-knife (not hot or cold, allowing tumor apoptosis). Each of these three methods has the opportunity to display its ability. Fuda has a variety of "weapons" to choose the most appropriate treatment for patients.

Microwave ablation has minimal invasion, high killing efficiency, short time (ablation time is usually less than 10 minutes), less adverse reactions and fewer complications. Microwave ablation is a safe and reliable method for patients who cannot tolerate surgery and cryoablation.

Microwave ablation, with its characteristics of fast coagulation, large ablation range and strong coagulation, is gradually emerging from the numerous ablation techniques, and has become the most rapidly developing treatment in minimally invasive treatment of tumor. In recent years, through the unremitting efforts of clinical experts and engineers, the microwave ablation technology in Fuda has reached an advanced level.
