On the afternoon of September 23, Prof. Yenni Thamrin, Chairman of Per-wanti PSMTI and also Chairman of the Indonesian Diaspora Network-China, led a delegation of the Indonesian Overseas Students Association in China to visit Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital. President Xu Kecheng, Vice President Liang Bing, Director of the Medical Department One Qian Wei, Deputy Director of the Medical Department Five Liu Shupeng and heads of relevant departments of the hospital attended the reception.
Before the meeting, Prof. Yenni Thamrin and the association had a tour around Haizhu campus and Tianhe campus and formed an on-site understanding of Fuda’s history, culture, infrastructure and medical environment with the company of department directors. They also visited Indonesian patients in the hospital and sent them gifts and blessings, hoping they would recover soon.
During the meeting, President Xu Kecheng, on behalf of the school leaders, extended a warm welcome to the students. “Besides doctor, the happiest thing for me is being a teacher and giving lectures to students.” President Xu has been a teacher since 1963, he hopes that students can Surpass him and do better. Therefore, it is delighted for him to see these energetic international students, and hopes that everyone will use the knowledge they have learned to help others and give back to the society.
Most of the international students are studying at Jinan University, Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, Guangdong University of Technology and Hainan Normal University. They gather here to understand and learn from each other. As the planner of this exchange event, Prof. Yenni said that China and Indonesia are neighbors in geography and both have unique cultural treasures. As the saying goes, culture knows no borders, friendship lies in neighboring countries. She hopes that Indonesian students studying in China can serve as bridges to promote cultural exchanges between China and Indonesia, deepen the friendly relations between the two countries, and make contribute to the "Belt and Road" initiative.
